Hi,
This release addresses the most frequent requests for 1.0.8 where to fix the video
of the NBA League Pass application and to find a way to improve the framerate of
videos on 2g and 3g devices by not updating both screens which is too slow.
With 1.0.9 TVOut2 now operates in three states:
Switched off - TVOut not mirrored, should not affect any other application.
"Normal" mode - compatibility with 1.0.8 except that NBA League Pass should work.
"Video" mode - Any video played or streamed by an application goes to TVOut only.
The TVOutTuner application now has two extra buttons to switch between "normal"
and "video" mode when TVOut2 is switched on. These buttons do not give any
feedback but the last button pressed is remembered across resrpings/reboots.
"Video" mode is the new feature. There are two types of application. Those which
display text/graphics, play games etc and these work in the mirrored "normal" mode.
Once you press the "Video" button any application which plays video through the
iPhone's video player (the one with the blue "done" button) will be diverted using
the code that the ipod application uses onto TVOut only and at full framerate.
If you play a video and TVOut2 is in "normal" mode it will attempt to mirror the
video as before but this only works with an acceptable framerate on a 3GS.
Unfortunately this is the only option at the moment for UnlimVideos as it is
written in a way that it does not pick up "video" mode (or orientation changes
for that matter so you must use "locked" landscape orientation).
If you have an Apple cable this should all "just work" and you will likely want
to leave TVOut2 in the default "video" mode. If you have a non-apple cable you
may be using the "resuppported" Cydia application which does something similar
to "video" mode itself and the two break each other when displaying videos.
To display a video when you are using resupported, turn off TVOut2.
If you only want to mirror your iPhone screen TVOut2 works with any
cable anyway and it has been reported it also works for ipod/safari now.
Apart from this new mode and the NBA fix 1.0.9 should behave the same
as previous releases. Consult their release notes for further information:
